In a tragic incident in West Bengal's Malda district, a 15-year-old girl was found dead in the fields of Kaliachak area on Tuesday morning.
The police have arrested Biswajit Mondal, a 30-year-old man, for allegedly raping and murdering the girl. The accused was arrested within 24 hours of the incident from Ramnagar village, which is 2 km away from the crime scene.
According to the Superintendent of Police, Pradeep Kumar Yadav, the minor was raped and murdered. In his initial interrogation, the accused revealed that he had contacted the victim over the phone about 10 days ago and had convinced her for marriage.
However, when the victim demanded to get married after having a physical relationship, the accused allegedly killed her by wrapping a veil.
A special team was formed with selected police officers from Gajol, Malda, Kaliachak, and English Bazar police stations to investigate the case. After the girl's body was recovered, the team successfully arrested the accused.
The incident has once again highlighted the need for stricter laws to prevent such heinous crimes against women and children. The authorities must take strict action against the accused to ensure justice for the victim and her family.
